Worst Week Ever

Well, as the title of this post suggests, this has been just about my worst week ever.

On Tuesday I was coming back from a friends house when I was involved in a crash with a truck. I'm not too bad, just a bit of a sore back and neck. My poor car however is a mess. Thank God I didn't have Becca in the car with me - her door took the full impact. Not sure if it is repairable or if the car will be written off. At least we were able to get the window taped up and cleaned all the glass out of it, and one of hubbys' mates, who is a mechanic, has given me the all clear to drive it on Monday so I can take the kids to school etc. Big thanks to mum and dad for ferrying the kids to and from school for the rest of this week.

Then last night I came down with the vomiting bug that Matt had earlier during the week. So I'm not only sore, I'm bloated and nauseous as well. Joy!

Just as I seemed to be getting on top of the housework and establishing a good exercise routine this happens! Hoping my next post will be a happier one!

Crash and Burn!

Well, after all my promises to tackle the house, I crashed and burned yesterday!

We went over to the in-law's place yesterday for a birthday party. Everyone had a great time. Not long after we got home though, Becca announced that she didn't feel so good. You can guess what happened after that.

Yep. She threw up.

All through her bed.

So for the rest of the night and today I have been on cleaning duties and trying to race Becca to the bathroom before she threw up anywhere else. Needless to say, the only housework that got done today was the laundry. Oh, and spraying LOTS of Glen 20 surface spray on all the linen and her mattress and pillow!

I did manage to go on a long walk today though!

Ah well, back into it tomorrow! She is fine now so kindy for her tomorrow, and I'll have to attack this house and play catchup on my chores!

Talking about exercise, I've just been looking at the various gyms around town and checking out their prices online. My gosh, they are dear! Even the PCYC is fairly expensive! I'd love to join up to a gym, but I just don't think that I can afford it.

I wonder if hubby would buy me a treadmill....

Cleaning Schedule

I thought I'd post my cleaning schedule for anyone who is interested. It is loosely based on Flylady's routines, but instead of working on one area (or zone) per week, I work on one per day. The schedule is organised so that everything gets done once by the end of the week. If anyone can see anything that is left out, let me know! The zone of the day gets an in-depth clean - wiping down door knobs, light switches, and window ledges etc. Anyway, enough babble! Here it is:

Monday

  • · Change Sheets
  • · Vacuum and Mop
  • · 1 load of washing – sheets
  • · Zone - Bedroom / Ensuite
  • · Exercise:

  • · Exercise:

Saturday

  • · Clean toilets and sinks
  • · 1 load of washing – us
  • · Clean dishwasher
  • · Clean outside table
  • · Brush Scruff
  • · Zone – Becca’s Room
  • · Exercise:

Sunday

  • · Garage
  • · Car
  • · Odd Jobs
  • · Catch up

I also have a daily routine of the same tasks to be completed each day. It still needs a bit of tweaking as I want to add in homework time / story time for the kids, but this is what I have so far:

Morning

  • · Check Fortnightly Schedule
  • · Washing
  • · Tidy Kitchen and put Dishwasher on
  • · Get meat out for tea
  • · Make Beds
  • · Brush teeth and do face!

Lunch

  • · Exercise
  • · Hang washing on line
  • · Unpack dishwasher
  • · Desk time - 15 mins (tidy, file, pay bills)

Afternoon / Evening

  • · Prepare dinner
  • · Bring in washing and put away
  • · Feed Scruffy
  • · Bath kids and do teeth!
  • · Tidy Kitchen and put Dishwasher on
  • · Put leftovers away
  • · Check calendar, menu plan and Fortnightly Schedule for tomorrow

I find I seem to work much better if I have a list to follow. It helps me to keep on track. Providing I look at it, of course! lol I'm planning on laminating the daily task list and sticking it on the fridge so I can refer to it easily each day.

Welcome!

Hi and welcome to my new blog! Happy Home, Happy Heart will follow my journey towards peace and fulfillment in all areas of my life, from creating a harmonious, decluttered house to getting back in shape physically, financially and spiritually.

First, a bit about me! I am currently a SAHM (Stay At Home Mum) with two kids. My eldest son, Matt, has just started Year One in the Special Ed class (he has a diagnosis of autism). Becca is almost 4 and has started kindy this year. My Hubby is a school bus driver and loves his work, although we are not loving the two months without pay over Christmas!

Now that hubby and the kids are back at work and school, I'm determined to make some changes! I'm going to be tackling the house using a cleaning routine based on Flylady's system (see the links section to the right for the web address), and am also going to be working on a fitness routine. I somehow got talked into doing a fun run in March, and I am INCREDIBLY unfit, so I need to start practicing for that!

Well, In light of the fact that I'm trying to get this house into a harmonious environment, I suppose I better go and get the clothes off the line!
